Camp Perry, Ohio - Civilian Marksmanship Program - 2003
Second Stage of our Weekend - NTIT - National Team Infantry Trophy Match

We all used a Garand M1 .30 Caliber 30.06 in this match, and were obviously smoked by the military teams using their AR-15 National Match 5.56 x 42mm rounds. We had fun doing it, though!

Shooting the shit on Friday night, waiting for our GCA teammates to bring over more Garand clips to load. Same stuff. Same stuff. Note, the 3/4 moon rising above the huts.
Dave and his friend came over around 11:00 pm with the extra Garand 8-round clips to get our rounds ready for the morning. It is a lot of ammo when you load it all at once! 384 rounds of match-grade 30.06 in 48 clips. Steve was always pessimistic and hated every minute of the match, as you can see. What a downer he was all the time!
John sporting his Garand rifle at the range, early. It was O-Dark hundred (6am) when we arrived. Our GCA leader giving our coaches last-minute advice. John coveting a cup of strong Java before the sun rose.
Our GCA Team. Our team captain, Don Kemps' daughter Amy is pictured. She was our team Scorer. Lounging at the Assembly Line. You can see what 600 yards looks like on the targets in the background. A neighboring team on a relay before us getting ready to run to the line.
The Viales Range when the sun was trying to poke over the horizon. Team GCA #5 huddle, talking about ammunition distribution strategy. Team GCA #5 huddle.

The U.S. Navy Marksmanship Team. This photo is at 2x which makes the 600-yard targets seem like they are at a reasonable distance... A veteran advising one of the military coaches. We listened in on these conversations every chance we got. The U.S. Navy Marksmanship Unit, watching the 600 yard initial fire from their first team.
The U.S. Navy Marksmanship Unit, firing all their AR-15's at once at 600 yards. This photo is at 3x, so it looks way closer than it is. The guy in camo facing the camera is none other than Derrick Martin, who wrote the book "The Complete Guide To AR-15 Accuracy." The Marine Corps Shooting Team truck.
We walked over early to get our ammo for the afternoon Garand National Match. The GCA team before us right before we were called to the line. Don (Team Kenips) Kemps going over team strategy with John.

Don't get near the Ready Line until you are called! Don and John evaluating Team #4 from our group. Team GCA #4 on the 600 line.
Kristof and John all geared-up and ready to run our equipment up to the line. Kristof and John waiting to assemble at the firing line. A close look at some of the state team high-power scopes that went up and down the line.
John, Steve and Mike in the Pits. There are no shots of us firing the match, because there were no extras to do so.
