Night/Low Light Photo Experimentation
Venus - Sunset Clouds - Vehicle Traffic
(It took me 15 minutes to set up my tripod properly on the seriously unstable granite rocks near the Olive Garden...I'll bet nobody has walked on them before me!)
April 16, 2003
Cheap guitar... Cheap guitar accelerated...
Venus rising above the cobalt blue sunset to the west. A bonus Northern Lights occurred while I was shooting, and lasted for only 30 seconds. That is Jupiter, the Gas Giant, visible between the spruce trees. Pretty amazing how bright it is.
I set up a tripod on the rocks near the entrance of the new Olive Garden to see what I could get. Interesting shots, taken from 4 second exposures (left) to a 30 second exposure here.
An interesting effect is the ambient front door light on the rocks, which I did not expect. I can see from this 30-second photo that the strip mall across the street contributed much of the light that illuminated the rocks below me.
