This is day one in Jamestown. The Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department was doing a slash pile burn, to encourage residents to clear brush and trees from their homes (mitigation) and for good equipment practice for the department. Matt is the new fire chief this year.
Matt dressed up in full bunker gear. Nomex all around. I missed the big burn, but the coal pile was still about 1000° F.
Cleg, Jim Martella and Matt taking a yogurt break. I forgot this guy's name, but he is a former Minnesotan.
