Rifle Practice Session - Fox Farm Road
Dan Horn and I got the rifles out for some practice. Dan was breaking in his new Springfield M1A rifle for the first time, and I got some trigger time with my AR-15 standing offhand at 200 yards.
April 17, 2005

I only brought my AR-15 National Match and CETME .308 (foreground). Dan brought some more rifles for ammo testing and break-in. You can see the "classy" vintage wooden furniture that I installed on my CETME .308. Note the HK G3 magazine in the weapon.
Dan firing his brand new Springfield M1A .308 He fired one round at a time, and swabbed the bore between each round to condition the barrel.
Recoil is pretty low-range for the M1A Dan firing his WWI-era Mauser that he uses for WWI re-enactments. We both shot blanks out of his two Mauser's, and it was an amazing "poof"
Dan firing his Colt AR-15A2 Sporter HBAR. This rifle is essentially the same as my later-version pre-ban Colt Comp HBAR. I told Dan to grease the crap out his Colt's recoil spring to stop the "boing" after every shot. I call it a "giggle boing" when it is dry.
Tony firing Dan's M1A from sitting at 200 yards. It grouped really nice, just a tad right.
I am envious of the M1A and I want one. My Walther P22 is visible on my belt.
