St. Louis River Overlook - Jay Cooke State Park Area
My friend Keith gave me the directions to this vista, and it was worth the hike. About 2 miles south of the Jay Cooke State Park boundary. Incredible view, despite the glaring defacement of the rock near the edge where Rick Amatuzio very heavily carved in his name (what were you thinking, Rick?!) Lots of old growth pines that were probably impossible to log at the turn of the century, and the remains of a 19th century railroad grade and trestle is still here. Highly recommended spot to visit! Ducks were roaming up and down the river, and deer were coming out of the forest across from me to drink from the river's edge. Otters were swimming up and down the river and even barking when they saw me on the cliff. It was a wildlife paradise...

All right, Rick, what the hell were you thinking when you carved your name into the rock at this vista point? Nice work...
