Christmas City of the North Parade - 2007
Duluth, MN
Ah, Parades! I just love photographing them, especially at night. The explosion of color, light and motion is just plain fun. I shot most of these at half-a-second up to a full second exposure, with a fill-flash strobe to stop certain parts of the action but still convey the motion of the participants.

2009 Parade | 2007 Parade
Anna, Jada, Ashton, Tracy, Lori & Kelly, Judy, Colin and Ian

Anna and Jada
Anna showing me a cartwheel before the parade. That is a police cruiser behind her, which honked in applause at her cartwheel, actually!
Note all the spectators watching her!
Two nice cartwheels!
Anna recovering from two tumble-rolls, which I missed due to catastrophic photographer delay...
Ashton after a really nice full handstand, which I also missed. Note her legs are still levitating...
Parade? Where?
The Photographer found a parade in the crowd...
Ashton's floppy tails on her hat kept getting in the way of a good photo. Sorry about that.
My Mom, Judy, all bundled up
The 148th Fighter Group in a fine display to start the parade. Lots of kudos were going out to them!
The Disabled American Veterans group got a constant, enthusiastic applause as they traveled the entire parade route! Thank you for your sacrifices, proud Vets!
The UMD Marching Band
Ten points for enthusiasm!
Yes, we had a real camel!
This photo made the cut simply because of the little Spaniel's reflective eyes on the left...
The girls asked this fireman if he had any brocolli. It is a funny story...
Arna Rennan with the Sons of Norway
The Sons of Norway Queen
Real fire, real twirling, real gasoline, actually!
